Mediation information and assessment meetings (MIAM)
If you need the structure of a court process to help you to move forward then the court rules require you to undertake a MIAM. This is a meeting which you attend (without your separated partner) lasting up to an hour. You will be given information about the various options to solve matters without the intervention of the court and you can reflect with the support of an independent mediator about your family situation and whether any of the alternative options could be helpful.
